Description:
The Mattawa River offers
lake and river canoe trips that range from 1 to 4 days in length.
There are 9 well-marked portages, all shorter than 500m, on
this relatively short river. This route is suitable for visitors with limited canoe
experience, but highly skilled canoeists will also enjoy this route by
shooting some of the rapids. The
river is navigable in both directions, though canoe trips generally
commence upstream, and flow from west to east.
Directions
(to Trout Lake):
From
the HWY 11/17 junction near Seymour Street, head northwest on HWY
11/17, and turn right at Trout Lake Road.
Turn right onto Lakeside Drive.
